Tourism in Concordia

Concordia is the second city of Entre Ríos and the largest on the Uruguay River basin. It sits right across from Salto: the river between them is 500 to 700 meters wide there. The two cities are linked by the road and railway that run over the binational Salto Grande dam, opened in 1982.

Its most popular outing is San Carlos Park, a 98-hectare reserve on the riverbank with the ruins of San Carlos Castle, built in 1888. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, then a pilot on the Buenos Aires–Asunción air route, landed there and later wrote about the place in "Oasis", one of the stories in "Wind, Sand and Stars". The park is also home to the province's first botanical garden.

Concordia also has hot springs, with pools between 36 and 43 °C at the Vertiente de la Concordia complex, beaches on the river and on Salto Grande lake, where water sports are practiced, and the Salto Grande Museum, which tells the story of the dam.
