Tourism in Gualeguaychú

Gualeguaychú is the third city of Entre Ríos. It sits on the river of the same name, about 25 kilometers from the Uruguayan border: the Libertador General San Martín Bridge, the longest international bridge in Latin America, links it to Fray Bentos.

It is famous for the Carnaval del País, the largest open-air show in Argentina. It takes place on Saturdays in January and February at the Corsódromo, opened in 1997, where the troupes of the local clubs compete with huge floats and costumes before some 30,000 people a night.

The rest of the year it offers beaches and a riverside promenade on the Gualeguaychú River, the Ñandubaysal beach on the Uruguay River and two hot-spring complexes on the outskirts. To round off the trip on the other side, Fray Bentos has the Fray Bentos Industrial Landscape, a World Heritage Site.
