The waterfront on the Uruguay river, the Salto Grande binational dam and the Daymán hot springs, a few kilometres from town.

Salto, on the Uruguay river and facing the Argentine city of Concordia, combines river scenery, history and some of the best-known hot springs in the country. Here is one possible two-day plan.
Day 1: the waterfront and the dam
The city looks out over the river from its two waterfronts. The northern one has José Luis Park, the Salto Chico beaches and the historic Parador Ayuí; the southern one, the Arenitas Blancas area and García Lorca Park at Piedra Alta. The bluffs above the river are the place for the sunset.
About 15 km north is the Salto Grande binational dam, shared with Argentina. Guided visits usually include entry to the complex, a crossing of the international bridge, a lookout and the machine room.
Day 2: the Daymán hot springs
About 9 km from the southern entrance to town, the Daymán Hot Springs have pools of thermal water that rises at around 46 °C, plus water parks for families. The perfect end to a relaxed weekend.
Tips
- Dam visit times and arrangements change: check before you go.
- The hot springs are open all year; they are especially popular in winter.
