In the heart of the country, the city lives on the banks of the Yí river, with sandy beaches, native woodland and canoe trips.

Durazno, in the heart of Uruguay, sits on the Yí river. Its banks, with sand and native woodland, are where locals and visitors meet, especially in summer.
El Sauzal beach
The town's favourite beach, next to the Camping de los 33, with sand suitable for swimming and woodland shade. It can be enjoyed all year round.
Canoeing on the Yí
Exploring the river by canoe combines nature and adventure; local groups have organised trips for years.
Bioparque
On Route 5, the Bioparque Durazno has more than 80 native and exotic species: a plan for families.
Tips
- Swim only in the designated areas.
- Bioparque hours and canoe trips: check before you go.
